Lighting from the 80's

Neon
I found out that neon lighting was popular in the 80's. It was used as signage on shop fronts, inside restaurants and as ceiling lights in residential interiors.

Retro 
I discovered retro was a colour scheme in the 80's. They used saturated tertiary colours from pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, greens and blues.










Pastels

Pastels were very popular in the 80's. They were a mixture of soft pinks, greens, purples and blues. Pastels were used throughout interior spaces, in fashion and art.













80's Fashion
The fashion from the 80's was very bright and fun. The art work was also very bright and full of shapes and patterns.

Ways to add lighting and colour to open up small dark spaces
  • Light/bright colour schemes.
  • Use of lighter coloured furnishings.
  • Use of lighter finishes.
  • Use of pendant lights to light areas required.
  • Use of different types of lighting pendant lights, wall lights, table lamps, ceiling lights, floor lights, custom designed and concept lighting.
Smart choices for restaurant lighting 
  • Avoid glare with correct positioning and type of lighting fixtures used.
  • Reduce electrical costs by use of LED lighting.
  • Measure 15 lumens per square foot for floor space and around 30 lumens per square foot for table space.
