Client Brief

To design an 80's style cafe in a Melbourne city lane way.  

Client requirements 

• Lively, fun and vibrant atmosphere.
• Variety of light sources and colours to open up the dark separate spaces.
• Visibility of fire safety signs and fire extinguishers from each space.
• Retro feel achieved through an 80's colour scheme. 

Existing space details

• Currently a garage/storage space in a lane way.
• Space is decentralised, with three separate but connected small rooms.
• No natural light, shaded lane way.
• Rendered concrete walls, industrial pipework visible.
• Exposed raw timber beams in high ceilings.
• Polished concrete floor.
